Son of Alfred George and Isabella Rowley of Wolverhampton; husband of Edith Rowley of North Thorn, Shield Row, West Stanley, Co. Durham. Killed in action 24 August, 1917 age 34.Whilst on a voyage from Milford Haven to Malta with a cargo of coal, SS Heatherside was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine U93 in the Atlantic, Twenty seven men, including the Captain, were killed.
