Wilfred married Suzanne Nelly Jacquot March 1939 in Wolverhampton, at the time of Wilfred's death they were living at 23 Tehidy Road, Cornwall. He left Suzanne £933 in his will.
Died 28th April 1945 aged 34.

Born 27th September 1920 in Wolverhampton son of Joseph and Mary Hannah Baynton. They were living at 18 Beach Road Green Lanes, Bilston along with Cyril’s' older siblings Horace, Joseph and Ruby, Cyril was a college student. Cyril joined the RAF at RAF Cardington, Bedfordshire sometime after April 1940.
Killed in action 25th November 1943 aged 23 when the Wellington bomber HZ182 in which he was flying flew into a mountain near Artana during a raid on a ball bearing factory in Turin. Cyril left £335 to his father in his will.

Born 8th December 1917 Quarry Bank, Dudley son of Emanuel and Martha Ann Benton. In 1939 they were living at 3 Springfield Road Wolverhampton along with his younger sister Evelyn, Horace was employed as a committee clerk for Wolverhampton Corporation.
Captured by the Japanese 15th February 1942 in Singapore, died 18th June 1943 aged 25 as a prisoner of war; he left £286 to his father in his will.

Born 5th April 1920 in Wolverhampton son of William Thomas and Mary Burns. In 1939 they were living at 34 Buckley Road, Wolverhampton along with Eric's older brother Harry. Eric was employed as a 'hewer rough castings'. Eric married Enid Brunt in December 1940 in Mansfield. Eric enlisted into the RAF at Cardington, Bedfordshire between September 1939 and August 1940.
Eric accidently drowned whilst sea bathing 25th March 1941 age 20.

Born March 1924 in Wolverhampton son of Robert and Harriett Elizabeth Clayton. In 1939 they were living at 55 Riches Street, Wolverhampton, along with Robert's older sisters Jessie and Iris.
Robert was killed 4th May 1944 aged 20 when the Whitley bomber BD385 in which he was flying collided with another Whitley Z9361 of 19 Operational Training Unit and crashed at Cullin Sands west of Findhorn during a night training flight; Z9361 landed safely.

Born 14th November 1907 in Wolverhampton son of Samuel and Eliza Cowern in 1911 they were living at 4 Henwood Farm Road, Compton, along with William's younger sister Phoebe. By 1939 William was living with his widowed mother his father dying in December 1934 at 23 Henwood Road, Compton, William was employed as a tool storekeeper. William enlisted into the RAF in Birmingham sometime after June 1941.
William married Phyllis Jacques in June 1942 in Wolverhampton at the time of his death she was living at 'Kingswood' Bushbury Road; William left Phyliss £384 in his will.
Killed in action 16th March 1944 aged 36 when the Wellington bomber HZ403 in which he was flying crashed at San Nicandro when returning from a raid on marshalling yards at Sofia, Bulgaria

Cox Donald Arthur Sergeant (W.Op./Air) 1817720

Born September 1924 in Wolverhampton son of Joseph Arthur and Alice Cox, in 1939 they were living at 81 D'Eyncourt Road, Wednesfield.
Donald was killed in action 26th December 1944 aged 20 when the Wellington bomber HF278 in which he was flying crashed at Way Barton Farm, St. Giles in the Wood just east of Great Torrington soon after taking off from RAF Chivenor, Devon. Ten minutes into the flight the starboard engine of the Wellington malfunctioned. The plane was carrying a full load of fuel and depth charges for a nine-hour anti-submarine patrol, and there was no time or opportunity to bail or drop the load. The pilot John Campbell Smith aimed for an open field to crash land, he survived along with two other members of the crew.

Killed in action 12th March 1942 when the Whitley bomber Z9293 in which he was flying was shot down by a night fighter into the North Sea north of Terschelling during a raid on Emden.

David Jack Norman Sergeant (Flight Engineer) 1583729

Born in December 1923 in Wolverhampton son of Frederick Stanley and Florence May David in 1939 they were living at 29 West Street, Wolverhampton, along with Jack's sisters Ida and Hilda.
Jack enlisted into the RAF in Birmingham after June 1941.
Killed in action 19th March 1945, the Lancaster bomber PB155 in which he was flying took off at 00:52hrs from RAF Binbrookin Lincolnshire. On its return from a raid on Hanau the aircraft flew into high ground in bad visibilty at 08:12hrs while attempting an approach to Kelstern airfield, Lincolnshire. Jack left his father £240 in his will.

Born 15th March 1920 in Wolverhampton son of Alan and Eliza Ann Davies, of Wolverhampton. In 1939 they were living at 74 Craddock Street, Wolverhampton and William was employed as a 'clerk pub assistant officer'.
Took off 23:23 hours in a Lancaster bomber EE198 21st June 1943 from RAF Woodhall Spa Lincolnshire, the aircraft was shot down by a night fighter and crashed in the Astense Peel near Opheusden, Holland during a raid on Krefeld, Germany.
Killed in Action 22nd June 1943 age 23.

Eastell Douglas Flight Sergeant (Nav./Bomber) 658099

Douglas was born June 1917 in Lancaster son of Harry and Emily L. Eastell he had older siblings Gladys and Frederick, and they were living in Morecambe, in 1922 Douglas's father died aged 32.
Douglas's mother married Joseph Williams March 1929 in Wolverhampton. By 1938 Douglas had joined the Royal Artillery (service number 1434905), he transferred to the RAF 14th July 1941.
At the time of his death Douglas's mother was living at 38 Three Tuns Lane, Oxley, Wolverhampton, he left her £205 in his will.
Douglas was killed 10th April 1944 age 26 when the Dakota KG369 in which he was flying overshot the runway and crashed when attempting to land at RAF Chedworth, Gloucestershire when returning from a navigational exercise in bad weather.

Born 11th March 1920 in Wolverhampton son of Robert and Mary Hannah Finney. In 1939 they were living at 56 Cross Street South, Wolverhampton along with Ronald's older brother Edgar and younger brother Sidney; Ronald was employed as a motorcycle engineer. Ronald married Margaret Hodson March 1941 in Wolverhampton.
Died of illness or accident 21st January, 1944 aged 23.

Frazer John James Civilian
Born in Coventry in December 1909 son of Henry and Amelia Frazer; in 1911 they were living at 208 Widdrington Road Coventry. By 1921 they had moved to 98, Rayleigh Road, Wolverhampton and were joined by younger siblings Margaret and Elsie.
John attended the Wolverhampton Municipal Secondary School 1921-24.
In September 1936 John married Vera Chiltern in Wolverhampton, at some point they moved to 231 Tithe Farm Court, Alexandra Avenue, South Harrow, Middlesex.
John was a member of the Home Guard and helped in defence duties during air-raids on London during 1940. He was assistant Manager of Brick, Croft and granite Co. and a football referee of First Division matches. He was killed while at work in his office, 15 Victoria Street, Westminster, London, during an air-raid, 11th November, 1940 aged 31.

Born September 1920 in Wolverhampton son of William John and Rosina Alice Glasson, by 1936 Ronald had  joined the Postal Service in Windsor which by then was where the family were living.
Ronald took off 20:18 hours 7th March 1940 from RAF Hemswell, Lincolnshire for a sector patrol sortie in a Hampden bomber L4111. The aircraft crashed when returning due to battle damage or fuel shortage near Digby Lincolnshire
Killed 8th March 1940 aged 19.

Born September 1923 in Kendal, Cumbria son of Norman and Annie Mary Goulding, of Seattle Washington, U.S.A.
Killed in action 23rd November 1943 aged 20. The Lancaster bomber JB135 in which Norman was flying took off 17:06 hours 23rd November 1943 from RAF East Kirkby, Lincolnshire, it was lost without trace during a raid on Berlin.

Gordon was born 28th April 1921 in Wolverhampton son of Harold John and Eva Ellen Hartlett, in 1939 they were living at 24 Drummond Street, Wolverhampton, Gordon was employed as a articles paper & incorporated accountant.
Gordon was killed in action 1st September 1941 age 20. He took off from RAF North Luffenham, Rutland in a Hampden bomber AD905 which crashed near the target during a raid on Cologne, the pilot survived the crash and was captured.

Born 9th August 1912 in Wolverhampton son of Charles William and Hanna Hill, in 1921 they were living with Hanna's parents at 45, North Road, Wolverhampton. Charles married Dorothy Hadfield in April 1939 at Chesterfield, they lived at 65 Lytton Avenue Penn, Charles was employed as a surveyor and valuer. Charles joined the RAF at Cardington, Bedfordshire sometime after April 1940.
Killed in action 17th September 1941 when the light Blenheim bomber P4840 in which he was flying flew into the mast of a schooner when attacking enemy ships off Tripoli, Libya. Charles left Dorothy £1372 in his will

Born 7th January 1917 in Wolverhampton son of Frederick and Sylvia Alice Hubball. In 1939 they were living at 46 Hawthorne Road, Blakenhall along with Arthur's younger sister Myra, Arthur was employed as a furniture salesman. Arthur enlisted into the RAF at Cardington, Bedfordshire between September 1939, and August 1940.
Killed while flying a Beaufighter LZ264 2nd October 1943 age 26, lost without trace 100 miles west of the coast of Northern Ireland during a navigational exercise.

Hughes Gilbert Warrant Officer (Nav.) 1577301

Born March 1912 in Wolverhampton son of Harry and Elizabeth Hughes, in 1921 they were living at 44, Granville Street, Wolverhampton along with Gilbert's older brothers Harry and Fred and younger sister Freda. Gilbert's mother died in June 1925. In 1939 Gibert, his father and sister Freda remained living at 44, Granville Street and Gilbert was employed as a warehouse foreman.
In December 1943 Gilbert married Marjorie Alcock in Wolverhampton.
Gilbert was killed in action 3rd April 1945 age 33, when the Stirling bomber LK193 in which he was flying dived into the sea off Cromer, Norfolk outbound on a SOE special operation supply drop to Denmark. This was possibly due to engine failure combined with a heavy load.

Born March 1920 in Wolverhampton son of Bert and Jennie Large, eldest of seven children.
In 1939 the family were living at 22 Perry Avenue, Wolverhampton. Derek enlisted into the RAF at Cardington Bedfordshire, sometime after April 1940.
Killed in action 16 July 1942 aged 20 when his aircraft a Wellington bomber P9285 was lost over the North Sea during a cross-country practice bombing exercise, possibly shot down by an enemy aircraft.

Born 1st July 1921 in Sunderland son of John and Edith Mitton, in 1939 they were living at The Butlers Arms Public House, Bushbury Lane, Wolverhampton along with William's older brother James, younger brother John and younger sister Joan; William's father was the licensee. William was employed as an accounts clerk.
William was killed in action 10th April 1945 aged 23 while flying a Mosquito FB.VI RS550 which crashed at Vehrte northeast of Osnabruck during a night intruder sortie in the Muritz Lake-Soltau area.

Morris Gordon Flying Officer (Navigator)154529

Gordon was born 19th November 1919 in Wolverhampton son of John and Ethel Morris. In 1921 they were living at 60 Curzon Street, Wolverhampton along with Gordon's older siblings Hector and Barbara.
By 1939 (and at the time of Gordon's death) the family were living at 52 Rosemary Crescent West Goldthorn Park, Sedgley. Gordon was employed as a draughtsman in engineering.
Gordon was commissioned as a Pilot Officer 26th November 1943 and then promoted to the rank of Flying Officer 26th May 1944.
Killed in action 5th March 1945 age 25. Gordon flying in a Lancaster bomber NG230 took off at 17:16 hours 5th March 1945 from RAF Spilsby, Lincolnshire to attack the synthetic-oil plant at Bohlen, the aircraft was lost without trace.

Horace was born 25th July 1916 in Wolverhampton son of George and Daisy Meddows, in 1939 they were living at 14 Allen Road along with Horace's younger siblings Bertha, William, John, James, Daisy and Sheila; Horace was employed as a managing clerk auctioneer's valuer at an estate agent.
Horace married Dorothy M. Moore of Whitmore Reans September 1940 in Wolverhampton.
Killed in action 19th January 1943.

Son of William and Anne Winifred Mortimer, Wolverhampton born at Warwick December 1921. At the outbreak of the war he lived at 319 Hordern Road Wolverhampton. He volunteered in 1942 to join the Royal Air Force.
Killed in Action 26th June 1943 age 21 when the Halifax bomber HR731 in which he was flying was shot down by a night fighter into the Ijsselmeer 12 miles west of Harderwijk during a raid on Gelsenkirchen. Geoffrey’s remains were recovered August 1967.

Born 1st March 1926 in West Bromwich son of Abraham and Violet Newman, in 1939 they were living at 33 Fancourt Avenue, Penn, Wolverhampton.
Derek died 11th October 1944 age 18, he was flying a N2s-3 Kaydet as a pilot under training, the aircraft crashed at Bunker Hill military base, Indiana, USA.

15 Elementary Flying Training School, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve; based at Kingstown Cumberland. Promoted to Pilot Officer 12th July 1941.
Born 15 April 1917 in Wolverhampton, son of Frank and Alice Oakley
Married Alice Maud Reid Harmon (born 26th December 1920 Wolverhampton) July 1941 in Wolverhampton.
Frank was promoted to Pilot Officer 12th July 1941. Killed in action 21st August 1941 age 24 when he crashed on a searchlight battery at Kirkhampton 5 miles west of Carlisle during an air test, flying a Magister I. A passenger, a civilian engineer was also killed, unfortunately there is no name recorded of the engineer.

Pike Leslie Norman Lance Corporal 6107302
1st Bn. The Loyal Regiment (North Lancashire).
Born 1st June 1923 in Wolverhampton son of Gethin William Roberts Pike and Jessie Gladys Pike.
The 1939 Register records Leslie living with his parents at ‘Brackley’ McBean Road and still being at school. Wolverhampton.
Leslie joined the Queen´s Royal West Surrey Regiment in Surrey 5th March 1942, then was transferred to the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment 1st May 1943. At some point Leslie was again transferred to 1st Bn. The Loyal Regiment (North Lancashire) regiment.
Leslie’s Regiment was involved in the battle of Anzio and the Allied invasion of mainland Italy January 1944 – 5 June 1944 which culminated in the capture of Rome.
Leslie was killed during what was known by the German Army as Operation ‘Fischfang’ when on the 16th of February the German Army counterattacked on a large scale and nearly broke through the Allied lines.
Killed in action 16th February 1944 aged 20.

Howard was born June 1922 in Wolverhampton son of Harry and Dorothy Amy Pritchard, of Wolverhampton. He enlisted into the RAF in Birmingham sometime after June 1941. At the time of his death Howard was living at 93 Pendeford Avenue Wolverhampton, he left £231 to his father in his will.
Killed in action 4th June 1944 age 22 when the Lancaster bomber which Howard was in swung on take-off at RAF Downham Market, Norfolk and collided with a hangar when setting off on a raid on a coastal battery near Calais.

Reed John Clement
Born June 1926 in Wolverhampton son of Fred Clement and Emily Reed, in 1939 they were living at 178 Newhampton Road, Wolverhampton and his father was the barber in Whitmore Reans.
John attended the school from 1938-41.
John was accidentally killed 5th September 1941 age 15 while working at the school farm camp, Diddlebury, Shropshire.

Reynolds Reginald John Ordinary Signalman D/JX 19114
H.M. Trawler Almond, Royal Navy.
Reginald was born 21st March 1918 in Shifnal son of George William and Sarah Reynolds, in 1939 they were living at 184 Warstones Road, Wolverhampton along with older siblings Clara and Charles; Reginald was employed as a tailoring salesman.
Killed in action 2nd February 1941 age 22 when H.M. Trawler Almond a minesweeper was sunk by a mine on 2 February 1941, at about 2:00 pm, when returning to Falmouth, Cornwall after sweeping duties. She had a crew of 20 men, 19 of whom were killed.

Roberts John Crispin  Sergeant PLY/X 952
Royal Marines H.M.S. Gloucester.
Born September 1915 in Wolverhampton son of John William and Elizabeth Roberts; Crispin was Elizabeths' maiden name. Elizabeth died December 1919 aged 35 years.
In 1921 John was living with his father at 32a Mander Street, Wolverhampton along with his older sister Dorothy, younger siblings William and Eileen and Elizabeth Towers the housekeeper. John's father was an employer in a motor accessories manufacturing business.
John married Edna Eileen Jeffery in June 1938 in St. Germans Cornwall. The 1939 Register records Edna living with her parents Percy and Hetty and older brother Wilfred at 34 Fore Street, Torpoint, there is no record of John which may infer that at this time he was already serving in the Navy.
John was killed in action 22nd May 1941 aged 25. H.M.S. Gloucester as part of a convoy was in the Kythira Strait, about 14 miles north of Crete, Gloucester was attacked by Stukas between 15:30 and 15:50 and hit by several bombs, the decision was taken to leave her behind due to the air attacks. H.M.S. Fiji, under heavy fire, dropped rafts as it passed the Gloucester but was unable to stop and was itself sunk within a few hours. Eventually the Germans picked up the survivors and took them to Kythira. Of the 807 men aboard at the time of her sinking, only 85 survived to reach shore; two more subsequently died after being taken into captivity, sadly John was one of the men killed, he is remembered on the Plymouth Naval memorial.

Ivor Rowberry

Ivor was born 20th July 1922 in Wolverhampton son of Arthur Thomas Rowbery and Lilian May Rowbery, in 1939 they were living at 68 Curzon Street, Wolverhampton along with Ivor's younger siblings Doreen, Brian, Patricia, Derek and Brenda; Ivor was employed as a clerk.
In 1941 Ivor was called up to join the Army and enlisted into the South Staffordshire Regiment, he volunteered for airborne forces and joined the 2nd (Airborne) Battalion. He took part in the invasion of Sicily, returning to England in October 1943.
Killed in Action 22nd September 1944 aged 22 near to the Old Church in Oosterbeek, Arnhem when he was hit by a mortar grenade.
16. A. 20.Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Netherlands.
Ivor's mother placed a note in the Wolverhampton Express and Star (October 1944) -
"Ivor (South Staffs Airborne), eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Rowbery, 68 Curzon Street, reported missing at Arnhem, now reported killed September. Will always be so proudly and lovingly remembered by mom, dad, sisters and brothers. To the world just another soldier; to me, all the world. Mom. Also treasured memories of our little Gordon, who left us without goodbye ten years ago today." Gordon died in a swimming accident in 1935 aged 7.
In 1946 the makers of Basildon Bond writing paper held a competition for the best letter written by a member of the Armed Forces during the Second World War, Ivor's letter home won.

Born 7th July 1922 in Wolverhampton son of Leonard George and Fanny Elizabeth Sansom. In 1939 they were living at 22 Merridale Street, Wolverhampton along with Bernard's younger brother Clifford; Bernard was employed as a draughtsman in a aircraft works. Bernard enlisted into the RAF at RAF Cardington, Bedfordshire sometime after April 1940.
Killed in Action 31st May 1942 aged 19. He took off in a Wellington bomber DV452 at 23:26 hours 30th May 1942 from RAF Elsham Wolds, Lincolnshire, the aircraft was lost during the 1000-bomber raid on Cologne.

Born April 1913 in Wolverhampton son of Edward Theodore and Agnes Mary Shore, of Wolverhampton. In 1921 they were living at 85, Owen Road, Wolverhampton along with Edward's older sisters Elsie and Lilian.
Edward attended Wolverhampton Municipal Secondary School as he is remembered on the schools memorial.
Edward married Mary Elizabeth Colclough March 1941 in Bilston.
Killed in action 29th July 1944 aged 31.

Born March 1918 in Wolverhampton son of Arthur and Lucy Steer. In 1921 they were living at 3, Merridale Street, Wolverhampton along with John's older sister Florence and older brother Arthur. John married Gwendoline Jones October 1943 in Wolverhampton
Killed in action 18th July 1944 age 27.

Stock Donald Percival Sergeant (W.Op./Air Gnr.) 1157823
75 Sqdn. Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.
Born 3rd February 1923 in Wolverhampton son of George and Iris Stock. In 1939 they were living at 78 Woodfield Avenue, Wolverhampton, along with Donald's younger sister Barbara; Donald was employed as an aircraft engineering apprentice.
Killed in Action 6th April 1942. Donald took off in a Wellington bomber X3489 from RAF Felton, Norfolk, the aircraft was shot down over the target during a raid on Cologne, crashing into the city killing sixteen German civilians when the bomb load exploded.

Sutton Arnold Webster Leading Aircraftman 1054416
961 Balloon Sqdn. Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.
Born 24th December 1916 in Wolverhampton son of Henry Higginson Sutton and Nellie Maud Sutton. In 1939 they lived at 26 Sweetman Street, Wolverhampton along with Arnold's younger brother Ralph; Arnold was employed as an industrial chemist. Arnold enlisted into the RAF at Padgate Lancashire between September 1939 and February 1940.
Killed in action 19th August 1942 aged 25. Members of the Balloon Squadrons often manned high-speed launches (HSL) a military craft used for air-sea rescue of downed pilots. Arnold was a crew member of HSL123 used during the raid on Dieppe.
During the raid another craft HSL122 was attacked by six enemy aircraft and set on fire. Despite the great risk HSL123 went to assist and pick up survivors unfortunately HSL123 was also attacked by aircraft, set on fire, and subsequently sunk, Arnold was killed during this action his body later washing up on the French coast which is why he is buried there.

Son of Miles and Nellie Thomson of Crouch End, Hornsey.
Killed 23rd June 1943 aged 21 while flying a Defiant TT.Mk.I DR948 which stalled and crashed in Pelistry Bay, St.Mary's, Isles of Scilly during a target drogue-towing flight.

Weaver Victor Alfred Flight Sergeant 960685
90 Sqdn. Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.
Born 21st December 1919 in Wolverhampton son of Bernard and Ada Grace Weaver. In 1939 they were living at 113 Sherbourne Road, Wolverhampton along with Victor's older brother Harold; Victor was employed as a clerical assistant at the P. A. D. Corporation. Victor married Enid Phyllis Annie Chester September 1942 in Wolverhampton.
Alfred was killed in action 24th August 1943 age 26. He took off 20:37 hours 23rd August 1943 from RAF Wratting Common, Cambridge in a Stirling bomber EH937, the aircraft was shot down by a night fighter into the Ijsselmeer 9 miles east of Marken and north of Almere when returning from a raid on Berlin.

Westwood Arthur Cyril Supply Assistant P/MX 67638.
H.M.S. Fidelity, Royal Navy.
Born 21st April 1913 son of Albert and Charlotte Westwood. In 1939 Arthur and his mother were living at 36 New Hampton Road West, Wolverhampton, his father dying in June 1938 aged 67; Arthur was employed as a coal clerk. Arthur married Edna Jones in June 1940 in Wolverhampton.
Arthur was killed in action 1st January 1943 aged 30, when H.M.S Fidelity was torpedoed and sunk by U-435 in the Atlantic off the Azores.

White Edward Frederick Sergeant (Obs.) 581009
12 Squadron. Royal Air Force.
Son of William Herbert White, and Rachel White. In 1939 they were living at 111 Hughes Avenue, Wolverhampton, along with Edward's older siblings Arthur and Winifred.
Killed in Action 14th May 1940 aged 20. The Fairey Battle P5229 in which he was flying took off 15:27 hours from Amifontaine, France, to attack bridges and roads in the Sedan area. The aircraft was shot down near Pouru-St-Remy 5 miles from the target, the wireless operator/air gunner survived and was captured.

Born March 1923 in Wolverhampton son of George Edward and Amy Lilian White, of 88 Goldthorn Hill Wolverhampton.
Killed in Action 26th June 1943 age 20. The Lancaster bomber W4256, in which Stephen was flying took off at 23:00 hours 25 June 1943 from Syerston Newark-on-Trent. The aircraft was shot down by a night fighter 1 mile east of Hippolytushoef, Netherlands during a raid on Gelsenkirchen, Germany.

Willis Henry Claude Pilot Officer (Nav.) 189940
614 Sqdn. Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.
Born 31st January 1923 in Wolverhampton son of James Henry and Florence Laura Willis. In 1939 they were living at 1 Thornley Street Wolverhampton along with Henry's younger siblings Aubrey and Joyce and maternal grandmother Louisa Doughty.
Henry was commissioned as a Pilot Officer 1st January 1945.
He was killed 25th June 1945 age 22 while flying a Mosquito B25KB531 which spun into the sea 30 miles east of Valletta due to engine failure during a transit flight to Malta, he bailed out but died.

Wood Alfred Leonard Sergeant (Nav./Air Gnr.) 1208568
115 Sqdn. Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.
Born 9th November 1921 in Wolverhampton son of George and Elsie May Wood, his father died in 1925. In September 1927 his mother married Frederick Proud. By 1939 Alfred was living with his mother and stepfather at 3 Burns Avenue, Wolverhampton along with his older brother George younger sister Dorothy and half siblings Florence and Kenneth. Alfred was employed as an assistant storekeeper - aero work.
Killed in action 22nd November 1942. Alfred took off at 18:40 hours 22nd November 1942 in a Wellington bomber BK206 from RAF East Wretham, Norfolk. The aircraft was shot down by a night fighter at Chalandry 9 miles north of Laon during a raid on Stuttgart. One member of the crew Sergeant K. A. Gosney survived and was captured.

Wycherley Ian Allastair Private 14409732
1st Bn. The Herefordshire Regiment.
Born September 1924 in Wolverhampton son of George and Katherine Wycherley. In 1939 they were living at 60 Jeffcock Road, Wolverhampton, along with Ian's younger brother John.
Died of wounds 22nd September 1944 aged 20 during an attack to clear and cross the canal at Someren, Netherlands, the attack was successful, but 25 men were killed and 35 wounded.
